The Mixed Conifer Forest ecosystem is found on Miskwasinikaa-minis-igaaning (North Twin) meaning "the island of lots of red rocks" in Ojibwemowin.
The Mixed Conifer Forest ecosystem covers about 85% of the Apostle Islands and mainland. It is is prevalent on Devils, Stockton, and Raspberry Islands.
